Sue Walters continues to seek advances in the art form through continual experimentation with tonal monochrome pyrography, as well as an ongoing exploration of options for introducing color to pyrographic work.
Sue Walters did not learn her art through formal training, but comes from a creative and artistic family. Her father, an architect, died when she was a child, but she has his love of monochrome work (black and white), and his eye for the finest details. Her great grandmother was a painter of some note (water colors), and her work was displayed in the National Gallery. Sue Walters' mother was interested in a variety of artistic media, including jewelry making and silver work. Through the years Sue Walters has dabbled with many artistic interests, but woodburning is the medium through which she has been most able to push her artistic limits and expand the possibilities of her potential as an artist.
